GCSE Results 2009
26/03/2010

We are non selective and very proud of our 'value added', which is always extremely high, well above the upper quartile according to data analysis but, because of the small numbers in each class or year group, the SATS and GCSE results for our school could be statistically displayed to show virtually any situation.

The summary of GCSE results for 2009 shows:
Passes A* - G: 100%
Passes A* - C: 62%

Number of candidates achieving 5+ GCSEs at A* - C: 63.4%
Number of candidates achieving 5+ GCSEs at A* - C including English and Maths: 62%

At Bowbrook our average pass rate over the years is above that of the national average with almost 75% of all pupils sitting the exams gaining grade A - C.

This is not to say that year on year we do not fall below this percentage and also rise well above this. For example our pass rate for the academic year 1999/2000 was 87% of all pupils sitting the exam gaining grades A - C. This gave us the accolade of being the top school in the GCSE league tables for Wychavon - an achievement of which we, the year group and their parents were justifiably proud.

For the second time in the last four years we have appeared in the Times Top 1000 Independent Schools for A and A*s.

We would like to draw your attention back to the introductory comments in that, because there are small classes, 'percentages' do not tell the whole story. There have been candidates who have achieved 9 A*s at GCSE. We have also had former pupils written off by previous schools delighted with 4 or 5 grade C passes. Each child is an individual; each child's progress should be measured individually.

At Bowbrook House School, our aim is to maximise each child's potential.
