Girls & Boys 7 - 11 years of age

Year 3 through to Year 6 (Key Stage 2)

The Junior School is housed in a new purpose-built classroom block, with a separate grassed play area with large apparatus and various facilities to encourage imaginative play and group activities.

Throughout the Junior School special emphasis is put on literacy and numeracy as the building blocks for all future education. In addition, a wide and varied curriculum is taught which includes Science, Art and Craft, Dance, Drama and Design Technology. From year 3 pupils have more specialised teaching of recorder, swimming and games. Pupils throughout the Junior School benefit from the specialist teaching and facilities provided for the education of the older pupils i.e the computer suite, the swimming pool, specialist art and music rooms as well as the playing fields and games staff.

Support Teaching

With our close assessment and monitoring we are able to note, at an early stage, if any child is experiencing difficulties in a particular area. Qualified support teaching, on a one-to-one basis, is offered to help and to restore self-confidence. The school SENCO spends an hour a week in each of the Junior classes to support or to extend the pupils as their needs dictate.
