Bowbrook House School has a very active Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) which fundraises throughout the school year in achieving targets and goals from which all the children gain. They continue to drive to raise funds for 'luxuries' to the curriculum experience.

The balance of monies in the Parents' Committee account at the 2009 AGM was £24,403.03. The bulk of this money will be used to furnish the new DT Block.

They are your committee, let them know what you think!

Fundraising

As you can imagine, the funds needed for our projects are not small and we anticipate the fundraising efforts to continue into the foreseeable future. This is why we hold a major fundraising event per term and encourage as many parents as possible to participate. Whilst we understand that each event may be not be "everyone's cup of tea", we ask parents for feedback on events and welcome the ideas that are put forward to us. We are, after all, a small number of parents representing the larger element!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your help and enthusiasm with raising this money and helping us provide the children with extra facilities to enhance their learning.

During 2008/09 the monies raised by the PTA was £9,608.19; out of this we provided the children in the school with:-

£

Athletics Vests

389.80

Interactive Whiteboards

5,892.60

CD Writer - French Department

387.49

Art Department

1,915.42

Microphones for 'Oliver!'

352.34

Display Board

691.12

Music Manual - Music Department

35.00

We also raise money for other charities and good causes. The Barn Dance, held in July, is a good example of how the events we run are important to our efforts because, as well as having a good time, we were able to raise £2,303.93! Out of this sum, we made donations of £500 each to the Acorns Hospice and Peopleton Church.

£400 is donated to the School to be used for teaching "luxuries". This term, the 100 Club has provided uniform Athletics vests in the School colours and also a CD recording device for use by the Seniors in English and French lessons.

Should a teacher identify a need for items that would not normally be purchased using their annual budget, the teacher can apply to the Parents' Committee for funds to make this purchase possible. Such items would ordinarily be classified as 'luxuries' rather than necessities.

Web Shop

For the shopaholics and for the casual purchaser, the Parents' Committee has arranged a dedicated Bowbrook House School on-line shopping site. Linked to over eighty High Street stores and familiar names like Littlewoods, John Lewis, Amazon, RAC, Early Learning Centre and many more. Every time you use it, this site will generate money for the Parents' Committee funds! Please do take a moment to follow the link below and check it out.

Bowbrook House School Web Shop

By shopping, booking flights or theatre tickets through the site or even by ordering brochures and some catalogues you raise money for your school. The site regularly generates £200-£250 a month. If we all remembered to use it then it would be a lot more.
